Kasteel van Grignan
23 Rue Montant au Château 26230 Grignan
Our estate is private and tucked away in green surroundings, offering plenty of space and tranquillity. You can hear birds singing and... nothing else. The view of the mountains of the Parc des Monts d'Ardèche nature park is enchanting. When the sun goes down, you can see the twinkling lights of the village of Chomérac in the valley. Across the way, our “neighbour girls” graze: the cows belonging to the farmer a little further down the road. In the autumn, he makes those beautiful, round hay bales, like sculptures in the landscape.Le Petit Moras is truly a destination for lovers of the outdoors. There are beautiful walks to be had in the immediate vicinity. Some of them pass almost right by our front door. Also just a few hundred metres away is the Voie Douce de la Payre, a 21-kilometre-long, car-free cycle path through the green valley of the river la Payre. The former railway line is mostly flat and suitable for anyone who enjoys cycling. Young, old, trained or not, on an e-bike or a regular bicycle. The connection to the ViaRhôna, one of the most beautiful and famous cycle routes in France, is a real highlight. This long-distance cycle route follows the Rhône from Lake Geneva to the Mediterranean Sea. Cycling on the ViaRhôna means variety. Peaceful riverbanks, vineyards, nature reserves and charming towns follow one another. You choose the pace and the distance. A short stage, a multi-day trip with overnight stays, anything is possible.Want to explore a picturesque Ardèchois village at your leisure and then relax on a nice terrace? There are plenty of nice places to be found here!Chomérac is less than 3 km away. The village exudes that typical Ardèche atmosphere. You will find a beautiful church, bakeries, restaurants and bars. Pétanque is played extensively on the village square, which is lined with plane trees. Speaking of pétanque, thanks to the arrival of the Centre National de Pétanque, Chomérac is becoming the French “capital” of this immensely popular sport. There are more beautiful, tranquil villages in the area. The high-altitude Saint-Vincent-de-Barrès, for example, is a village de caractère with well-preserved fortifications, where you can visit the workshops of potters and other craftsmen in the narrow streets. Mirmande is also beautiful and well worth a visit. It is a real artists' village with a pleasant, bohemian atmosphere. Do you enjoy strolling through markets? Then you should visit La Voulte-sur-Rhône. Every Friday morning there is a large market here, with more than a hundred stalls packed with local (organic) products. Fancy a day in the city? A little further away, about 30 kilometres, lies the beautiful Valence. You can get there quickly via the A7, or follow the route along the Rhône.
